61/365 Shutter release Challenge

So the last day off 2015 is here and a new album starts tomorrow for 2016. That’s the first two months of the 365 challenge over and I am looking forward to the next ten. There will be a few hard months ahead before the weather brightens up and the days lengthen, opening up new opportunities and new subjects. So here’s today’s photograph, a style I don’t normally do but it’s the last day off the year.

Ring-Necked Pheasant:  Phasianus colchicus

Over the winter bird feeders are hung up and bird seed gets dropped on the ground from the smaller birds feeding. Over the last few days a Ring-necked Pheasant has been dropping into peck around the ground under them. So sitting having a coffee this morning I looked out and there he was. Yes this is the cock bird has the hen is a dull brown colour. So grabbing  the camera and putting the automobile/car  between myself and the Pheasant, I made it over the yard without spooking the bird. Leaning over the front of the vehicle I got a few shots off. Here’s is one off them.

Water Logged

What a day here, with the low winter sun it looks beautiful outside. Until you step out and the gale force winds would chill you to the bone. So I went up through the Dromara Hills and on through the Mourne mountains. Stopped off at Spelga dam where the water level was high and with strong winds whipping white tops on the water. Hand holding and braced against a grass bank I got this shot.

When my shadow ended up behind bars.

What a beautiful mild day for December, with good morning sunshine and a stroll around Edenderry in Co.Offaly , Ireland. I ended up putting my shadow behind bars with Arthur Blundell Sandys Trumbull Hill the 3rd Marquess of Downshire  has he stands close to the Church of Ireland in the town.

Chaffinch

Scattered some bird seed around the base of a tree and using my car has a hide, I got some nice photographs of birds feeding.
