Hello amoodindigosoul, sorry for not getting back to you sooner but was in work. Right the fly in the second photo. I think its a Bibio hortuianus. But not 100 percent sure. It is around 9 mm in length and is feeding on the underside of an apple tree leaf. I think its the male fly has the female is larger and has a orange back.
A few details about the settings used. It was shot with a Nikon D7200 with a Sigma 105mm f2.8 lens. At an aperture of f4.5 at 1/800 of a second. ISO 200 in Aperture priority mode. Focus manually and hand held. Edited in lightroom and Sharpener pro 3. Output sharpener.
