Reed Swan

When out working around the garden I like to keep the camera handy, A couple of swan’s landed on the lough at the gardens edge. Walking down I got stood still till they got use me and managed to get a couple of shots before leaving them to their feeding. This shot was taken through some reeds which I did knowing they would be out of focus. I like the effect of them framing the  swan.

Mallard taking off after I spooked it walking down a lane by a lough.  A quick grab shot and worked it in a couple of processes, one monochrome and then a colour process to add a warmth to it. Namely Silver Efex Pro 2 for the B & W and Color Efex Pro 4.

Dirt and Dust

365src06.10.2016bw2.JPG

Called in to see my folks and the farmer was hard at work in the fields behind the house.

Finding a spot to see I managed to get this shot of him rolling the freshly sown field . I like the way the sun light caught the dust from the roller in this photo.

Thank you for looking.

View of Down

365src045.10.2016.JPG

This shot was taken in the townland  called Carricknaveagh in County down , Northern Ireland. The hill in the distance is called Slieve Croob and on the right you can see the faint outline of  Slieve Donard , Northern Irelands highest point. I would be around 20mile/33km from Donard which overlooks the seaside town of Newcastle. If you have ever heard the song “Where the mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea” Well its along this lovely coast.

Me,swans and sunsets

365src03.10.2016.JPG

This last week has been great for sunset’s and living around water you get the best from them. Grabbing a fold up camping stool and the tripod I went to the lough down the road from me. with dusk closing the colour’s were deepening. Then two swans swam out from the reeds and one came straight in front of me, how could I resist.

This photo has had no colour adjustments it’s has recorded.

Lough mist

365src02.10.2016.JPG

I’m lucky that where I live has a large number of these small loughs. The cool nights brings lovely morning mists over the loughs. Here we have the last of the mist has it gets burned off by the sun. I love down by the loughs with the wildlife and birds calling and rumbling around the undergrowth. Just to sit and watch the landscape as it gets painted has the mist lifts, its priceless. At this lough the hill in the photo is topped with a fairy fort, a circle of trees.
