Harry Ferguson’s plane

Been wet and overcast here but then that,s why Ireland’s green. This piece of art is in memory of Harry Ferguson, the first man in Ireland and the UK to build and fly his own aircraft. His maiden flight was in 1909 not far from the site of this photograph.

Forgotten Stile

Came across this disused stile while out walking, I love these old stone stiles and still think they should be in use. I recall one in the area where I lived has a child, every time I walked past it I had to climb it.

Ballynoe stone circle.

Was on my was out from the town of Downpatrick in County Down and I saw a sign for Ballynoe Stone Circle. Since the weather was fine and i was in no great hurry anywhere I headed out there. I took this photograph to take in the main circle and the burial mound. There are a few stones outside the circle which are not in this photo. The taller stones seen here are around 2 meter’s high and could date back 3000 years BC. I enjoyed the solitude of the place, it had a peaceful feeling around it.
Here’s a link with more details and photo’s with the grass cut, enjoy and thanks for viewing
Where spirits rest
Love old ruins, in Ireland a lot of old homes are left standing because of the belief that the spirit of our ancestors still rest within.

1st Presbyterian Church
Here is a night shot of 1st Presbyterian Church in the town of Saintfield, County Down, Ireland. It was built in 1777 on the old site of the original church which lost it’s roof during a severe wind storm on Christmas Eve 1775. The minister, Rev. Thomas Leslie Birch formed the County Down Society of the United Irish Men and he also took part in the 1798 Rebellion.

Water Logged
What a day here, with the low winter sun it looks beautiful outside. Until you step out and the gale force winds would chill you to the bone. So I went up through the Dromara Hills and on through the Mourne mountains. Stopped off at Spelga dam where the water level was high and with strong winds whipping white tops on the water. Hand holding and braced against a grass bank I got this shot.
