A Cold & Misty morning

So a misty morning greeted me with a heavy frost coating the world in fine jewels. Just me and the dog out for a morning stroll, with a 17-70 zoom on the camera we headed out. With the mist acting like a giant softbox the landscape soft on the eye, my old pal and I headed off down the road.

Yes this is a road, one of the many little L roads in Ireland.

A stop at one of the small loughs and it’s soft on the eye with the mist still down.

A beautiful morning in a grand part of Ireland where the pace is slow and the company great.

Thanks for dropping by.

A quick note on my 365

Hi to all who have been kind enough to follow me on  my daily trip in my 365 challenge.

For the next few weeks I can only post every few days due to a busy period in my life, but will continue to take a daily Photograph. I still enjoy reading your blogs and will do so and comment when I have an internet connection.

I would like to leave you with this photo taken off Lake Muckno in Castleblayney, Country Monaghan, Ireland.

HDR. Photograph’s

Was down in Trim in County Meath,  Ireland and spend a few hours walking around. Going over to the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul at Newtown. It was a cold and damp, not a great day for photography. So back in the warmth I played around in Photoshop and HDR toned a couple of photo’s. Now I don’t do much Photoshop for I really don’t know a lot about it. I did enjoy playing around with it while watching the turf burning bright in the fire and the fog drop outside. I have looked at other HDR photo’s with mixed feelings. Some seem to bring a photo to life and others an overkill. I enjoy all types of art work and like all image types. Street art to the classics I enjoy but HDR I’m still on the fence. Maybe when I paint or draw it takes personal input to get the same effect, while its just a case of letting the software alter the data in a photograph with HDR. It’s something I will play around with and see what effects can be had and then see if my thoughts on it change. I’m not judging those that like and us it, I will play around with it and see where I land.

Winged Joy

Some Photo’s  I took this morning while there was a brief sunny period, I love wildlife and when I have time I watch and photograph it.

Even half an hour in the garden can product a few shots. I find it very calming and relaxing to spend time around any animals. A couple of bird feeders and you have no end of photographic subjects, birds of all sizes and shape visit the garden.

I have found I can stand still and after a short time they ignore me, providing I don’t move suddenly. With seed falling to the ground and me scattering a little around, it’s also a chance for some ground shots.

So if you enjoy birds or other small animals, set up the right conditions and food and with a little time enjoy your own private viewing.

Behind bars

Behind bars

When my shadow ended up behind bars.

What a beautiful mild day for December, with good morning sunshine and a stroll around Edenderry in Co.Offaly , Ireland. I ended up putting my shadow behind bars with Arthur Blundell Sandys Trumbull Hill the 3rd Marquess of Downshire  has he stands close to the Church of Ireland in the town.

Bective Abbey

Bective Abbey  in county Meath , Ireland.

Was passing close to the abbey on my way north, seeing it from a distance I decided to go look at the site. Finding a car park and path to the abbey right beside the site.. With heavy rain and strong gales it was not the ideal weather for being in the open. When using the tripod to get some photographs I had to hold it down, trying to get a shot in when the wind abated slightly. Even a man walking his dog told me I was mad. So the following are some photo’s from my windy day around the abbey ruins. Some were taken through window openings shot with flash, and others hand held when the was no room for the tripod. Hope you enjoy the photographs and feel free to comment.

The view from the car park side.

Other views from around the outside.

Some of the walk ways inside, just watch your head in places.

Take by holding the camera into opening in the walls and using longer exposures.
